Disaster Risk Reduction

Explains disaster risk reduction

Every year, the number of disaster record keep increasing at an alarming rate. Increased population densities, environmental degradation, and global warming adding to poverty are making the situation worse. This, making disaster risk reduction a cross-cutting issue around the world. The resilience of the local communities to disasters lies in their capacity to prevent, prepare for, and respond to natural hazards. Consequently, People of Good Heart Initiative POGHI operates at the grassroots level with communities and other relevant organizations as partners to take a participatory approach in disaster risk reduction and mitigation through advocacy programs and emergency response.
